Recycling Market Development Zone
The Recycling Market Development Zone program combines recycling with economic development to fuel new businesses, expand existing ones, create jobs, and divert waste from landfills. This program provides attractive loans, technical assistance, and free product marketing to businesses that use materials from the waste stream to manufacture their products and are located in a zone.

The California Energy Commission’s Public Interest
Energy Research (PIER) Program supports research, development
and demonstration (RD&D) projects that will help improve the
quality of life in California by bringing environmentally safe,
affordable and reliable energy services and products to the
marketplace. The PIER Program annually awards up to $83.5 million on a case-by-case basis for RD&D in a
number of areas including end-use energy efficiency in
buildings, energy systems integration,
environmentally-preferred advanced generation, and renewable
energy technologies. Commission staff are always
looking forward to meeting with company officials to discuss
the possibility of grants and loans. Please refer to
