EDAB 2003 Annual Legislative & Award Reception

January 10, 2003, from 5:30 – 8:30 PM

The Oakland Museum

Oakland, California

Sponsored by SBC

Each year our legislative reception provides EDAB’s business, community, and local government leaders a rare opportunity to meet with our legislative delegation and their staff personally as well as to recognize the delegation’s contributions to the East Bay’s economy over the past year. This year’s event, co-sponsored by the Alameda County Mayors’ Conference, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and the Alameda County Special Districts Association, was the most popular one to date. The informal reception format provided an opportunity for many intimate, one-on-one conversations between our members and local elected officials.

This year EDAB also recognized Zachary Wasserman, a Partner at Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP, by presenting him with the first annual East Bay Vision Award.  Zack was recognized for his leadership and commitment to advancing collaborative solutions to address the East Bay’s infrastructure challenges.  Due to popular request, Zack’s inspiring acceptance speech is available to read/download via the following link 2003VisionSpeech.pdf

Edward Del Beccaro, Vice Chair of EDAB and a Managing Partner of Colliers International (above left), presented Zachary Wasserman (left-center, above) with the award while EDAB Chair, Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson (center, right) and Bruce Kern (right), EDAB’s Executive Director add their congratulations.

Senator Tom Torlakson briefed the attendees on his agenda for the coming year and was available for the entire reception to respond to EDAB member’s concerns and questions.

Senator Liz Figueroa (left) also spoke and spent time with the attendees, including Manex’s President, Bill Singh.

Event sponsor SBC’s representatives, Joyce Taylor (left) and Carol Cody (center) took advantage of the opportunity to talk with Keith Carson during the informal reception.

Supervisor Keith Carson was presented a commendation by the Alameda County Special Districts Association representative, Douglas Siden (right), who is Director of the East Bay Regional Park District.  Adding his congratulations (in the center of this exchange) is Bruce Kern, Executive Director of EDAB.

Supervisor Keith Carson is joined in this discussion by EDAB’s Employer Workforce Development Director, Robert Benson (center) and Sandre Swanson (above right), Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Barbara Lee.
