Over 180 EDAB members and guests participated in EDAB’s Fall General Membership Meeting that focused on “ Enhancing Shareholder Value Through Sustainable Business Practices”.

Alameda County Supervisor and EDAB Chair, Keith Carson, opened the meeting with an update on EDAB’s recent accomplishments (which included the publication of the 2004 East Bay Indicators Report and current projects (which included the Goods Movement Expo scheduled for December 8-9, 2004 at the Oakland Downtown Marriott).

 

Then Karen Smith, (right) Alameda County Waste Management Authority’s Executive Director and Rory Bakke, (below) Senior Program Manager for the StopWa$te program, introduced the topic and guest panelists.

  • Manufacturer of aircraft insulation, carpet seaming tape and reinforced plastic film
  • Program Heroes:  Kesav Reddy & Bill Fuson
  • Waste reduction efforts include:

o       Wood (broken pallets), plastic film, paper bag and “off spec” carpet recycling

o       Switched to larger rolls of plastic film, significantly reducing waste during roll changing process
