The East Bay EDA has chosen the following critical areas to focus on and is utilizing its membership and regional collaborations to address issues that 

 

Regional Infrastructure

Federal Stimulus Package 2009 and the East Bay EDA

The East Bay EDA has been asked by Secretary Dale Bonner, CA Business, Transportation & Housing Agency, to work with the Bay Area Economic Institute to come up with a plan for the East Bay and the Bay Area, with projects submitted to the State by April 24, 2009

Housing

East Bay Jobs Housing - a website hosted by the East Bay EDA dedicated to increasing affordable housing in the East Bay has been established to share information and coordinate the housing support activities of a number of other organizations in the East Bay and the Bay Area.

 

Business Development

The Business Development Focus Group includes the Industrial Roundtable and regional marketing groups like the Bay Area East Shore.

Industrial Roundtable - a website hosted by the East Bay EDA for a Bay Area group focused on preserving industrial properties the the East Bay EDA participates in and provides

Bay Area's East Shore - a website hosted by the East Bay EDA to support the cooperative marketing effort of the five East Shore cities: Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland and San Leandro

The Membership Development Committee meets periodically to discuss membership related information and tasks.

Economic Development Directors Council

The East Bay EDA established the East Bay Economic Development Director's Council in 1998 to provide East Bay EDA city economic development staff, affiliate and resource organizations a forum in which to obtain and share information on resources, tools and programs and collaborate on business retention, development and attraction projects.

East Bay Green Corridor  Partnership

Established in 2007 by the cities of Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland and Richmond, the University of California, Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the partnership is a regional initiative working to strengthen the economy through support for emerging green and sustainable industries, green job development, and alternative energy research with a goal to establish the region as a national leader in green innovation.

Administrative support is being provided by the East Bay EDA. Recruitment is underway for the Project Manager position who will be supervised directly by the Executive Director of the East Bay EDA and will serve as a member of the organization’s business development and event planning staff.
