Changing the name of the organization in 2006-07 from the Economic Development Alliance for Business (EDAB) to the East Bay Economic Development Alliance (EDA) necessitated the registration and creation of a new (eastbayeda.org) url/website that was launched July 2007. The initial website, edab.org (see table in info below) had over 11 years of exposure to search engines and users on the internet, so it took a few years to rebuild that exposure for the new site.
New Website - eastbayeda.org
The new website eastbayeda.org was completely redesigned, with a new navigation system that reduced the number of levels and clicks required to get to the desired page/info. Therefore the number of pageviews and hits were expected to be significantly less from the edab.org site..
Thus sessions per day rose dramatically until last FY, pageviews grew moderately each FY, while the total hits (clicks) per session also decreased the last FY.
Perhaps even more important than visitors is the average length per visit, which went from about 2.5 minutes for the edab.org site to 18 minutes with the new website (due in part to the monthly economic newsletters and forecasts that have been incorporated into the new website), and the average number of page views per visit doubled on the new website as well.
The monthly newsletters were discontinued in Jan 2011 and the Quarterly Forecasts were presented as PDFs instead of htm pages, and could account for the decrease in hits and increase in download size.

History & Data for edab.org
A BBS was created for EDAB in 1991 to share files. EDAB's first website was placed on the internet in 1996 and was operated with a number of revisions until the name change in 2006, with a completely redesigned website, eastbayeda.org, that was launched in July 2007. EDAB.org closed in October 2007.
