The East Bay, comprised of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, is located on the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay. It encompasses approximately 1,540 square miles (22% of the Bay Area) 33 cities and nearly 2.5 million residents. Over 36% of the Bay Area’s population and workforce reside in the East Bay. More than a third of the Bay Area’s workforce is employed here.
